Kavanagh Environmental has entered into an agreement with BirdWatch Ireland to provide them with a sustainable fundraising campaign by recycling mobile phones. BirdWatch Ireland is the largest independent conservation organisation in Ireland. Our aim is the conservation of wild birds and their natural habitats. Established in 1968, we currently have over 14,000 members and supporters and a local network of over 20 branches nationwide. We are involved in many conservation projects which aim to protect Ireland's birds and their habitats. This work enables us to report on the status and distribution of wild birds in Ireland and, through our policy and advocacy work, is used to influence others who have the ability and power to protect and enhance biodiversity. We also own or manage an increasing number of reserves which protect threatened habitats and the birds that rely on them. Our website (www.birdwatchireland.ie) now holds a section devoted to Ireland's Birds, providing descriptions, distribution maps, pictures, and many other details. Members receive a quarterly magazine, ‘Wings’, full of information about birds and other wildlife. BirdWatch Ireland also publishes the journal ‘Irish Birds’ on an annual basis. Barnardos Kavanagh Environmental has entered into an agreement with Barnardos to provide them with a sustainable fundraising campaign by recycling mobile phones. Barnardos supports children whose well-being is under threat, by working with them, their families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children. Barnardos was established in Ireland in 1962 and is Ireland's leading independent children's charity. Obviously no two cases are the same, but at Barnardos the children we deal with do have one thing in common. It is that they could otherwise be forgotten by society. We want to live in an Ireland where no child gets left behind and we will do everything in our power to make this happen. Our aim is to inject hope into what sometimes seems to be a hopeless situation. The effects of disadvantage can last a lifetime. It's true that children have amazing abilities to cope, but the wrong start can affect the direction of their whole lives. It can have a permanent impact on their education and their well-being. It can affect their ability to make friends, to get the most from their education and to make the progress every child should. It can trap them in the never-ending spiral of poverty and disappointment. In Barnardos we believe that all children deserve to be supported to reach their potential. Many children will achieve this without any need for Barnardos’ services, but for those who do not have the supportive family and community network around them, we are there to provide services that compensate for that gap at both a local and a national level. If you would like further information on the work that we do or if you have any queries, please contact us at: Barnardos National Office T: (01) 453 0355 E: info@barnardos.ie If you would like to help, you can simply donate a single phone or run a collection campaign for us in work or school.
Blue Cross Kavanagh Environmental has entered into an agreement with The Blue Cross to provide them with a sustainable fundraising campaign by recycling mobile phones. The Irish Blue Cross was established in 1945, and put its first mobile veterinary clinic onto the streets of Dublin in 1953. Since its foundation the charity has continued to develop the service whilst extending its support for needy pets through partnership with private veterinary practices. Ten Blue Cross mobile veterinary clinics are in operation weekly throughout Dublin and are manned by a dedicated volunteer force of vets, drivers and helpers. Each year, at least 10,000 pets are cared for at the mobile clinics. This work is supported by the main office, which handles an additional 8,000 calls for assistance from the general public. In 2007, the Irish Blue Cross provided veterinary care to 12,749 small animals. This included treatments, vaccinations and check-ups carried out at the charity’s Dublin based mobile clinics as well as neutering and life-saving surgeries carried out under its low cost referral schemes undertaken by veterinary practices in Dublin and around the country. In 2007, support has been given by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government with a grant of €15,000 towards canine and feline neuters. Also, in recognition of the work of the charity, the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food contributed generously towards the work of the Charity with a grant of €40,000. Each year, Dublin City Council and other local authorities also give significant grant aid to the charity. The Irish Blue Cross also operates a horse ambulance service that attends at all Irish racecourses, north and south. In an average year, the fleet of three ambulance units provides over 350 days of service. Experienced staff work closely with racecourse veterinary surgeons to assist racehorses ‘pulled up’ or injured during the course of racing. In 2007, 382 horse ambulance service days were provided to racecourses. Funding is provided by Horse Racing Ireland and other racing organizations. The Irish Blue Cross horse ambulances are also to be seen at the RDS Annual Horse Show, the Punchestown International Horse Trials and some Point-to-Points.
